You are not alone

There are so many people who struggle with anxiety and don’t even realize it. What makes it more confusing is that anxiety takes different forms for different people. You may have generalized anxiety. There is always a sense that something could go wrong. You find yourself worrying and you can’t control it. Your brain is seemingly possessed by its fear, rather than your own thoughts. You would just like some quiet, but you can’t escape.

If you get panic attacks, you know how stressful they can be! The idea of having another panic attack may even make you feel anxious and cause further attacks. It is so uncomfortable to feel as though your body is out of control!

You may have obsessive-compulsive disorder. There are so many kids and adults who struggle with OCD. Just like other forms of anxiety, OCD can take control of your life and limit how you spend your time. Managing it becomes exhausting!

How can anxiety counseling help?

When you come to sessions, your anxiety counselor will meet you where you are at. Together you can decide on a treatment plan to address your needs. Our anxiety counselors are not only trained in traditional talk therapy, including research-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but counselors are also trained in EDMR and neurofeedback as well.

What this means is that you have several research-based modalities at your fingertips to help you create the ease you need.  This is especially helpful because there is not ever one intervention that works well for everyone! You may like and respond well to more traditional talk therapy or Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Or you may be someone who loves the changes EMDR creates in your life.

Maybe you are someone who has tried everything and nothing has worked for you. If that is the case, you may want to try neurofeedback as a way to finally get calm in your life. Regardless, your therapist can support and guide you with kindness and understanding. You don’t have to do this alone. Change is possible! We see great results from people just like you everyday.

At Mountain Vista Psychology, our anxiety counselors have successfully helped many people of all ages who struggle with anxiety. Some have learned to better manage their anxiety, while others no longer consider themselves to be anxious.

Helping those who struggle with anxiety is one of our specialties therefore you don’t have to guess about what will work. You don’t have to go it alone as we know how to help. You will learn effective strategies to improve your life using research to guide the treatment.  Most noteworthy, progress is also monitored to ensure that you are getting the changes that you want and need in your life.

But you may still have questions about anxiety counseling

Counseling takes time and money, and you are worried about making this work. You may even feel guilty about taking time and money to go to therapy. Please let us know if you have these concerns so we can work with you. We offer some income based sliding scale sessions. Depending on your situation, we may be able to have a fewer number of longer sessions. In this way we can get deeper work done in less sessions.  Some people may also be able to space your sessions a little further apart. Ask us anything and we will let you know what options will be effective for you.
