1.How do I know if Neurofeedback is a legitimate treatment?
There is 35 years of research indicating the effectiveness of neurofeedback. MVP is happy to provide you with a research paper summarizing this research as well as forms of media to support the value of Neurofeedback as a treatment.
Is Neurofeedback painful or uncomfortable?
No, Neurofeedback is non-evasive and not painful. Nothing enters into your head, we just collect the electrical activity that is already occurring in your brain so you can learn to change it.
How do I know if Neurofeedback is working?
Clients doing Neurofeedback should feel and see small differences within the first 8 to 12 sessions and continue through the duration. In addition to the brain changes, at MVP your counselor will physically track progress.
How do I know if I or my child is a good Neurofeedback candidate?
At MVP we primarily provide Neurofeedback training for those with ADHD, anxiety, Mild to Moderate TBI, and Autism. Most of our Neurofeedback clients range in age between 7 to those in their 70s.
How often do clients need to come in for Neurofeedback appointments?
Research shows that at least two appointments a week are necessary to show progress.
How many sessions are necessary before completion?
Research people need at least 30 sessions to receive long lasting effects. Some people complete more than 40 sessions to achieve the results they would like. The results achieved through Neurofeedback typically don’t hold well unless 30 sessions are completed. If you complete at least 30 sessions, then the results are long lasting with a very small number of people ever needing booster sessions. Each person’s brain and goals are different and we work with you to determine the best path for you to take to reach your goals.
Can I take breaks while doing Neurofeedback?
Within the first 20 sessions MVP strongly discourages any breaks as a slight regression can take place. Once at least 20 sessions have been completed a short break in training (one week) will likely not impact treatment.
When is payment taken? Is there a contract?
Payment is taken at the time of service. There is no contract, clients are only responsible for services rendered.
