Neurofeedback Adult Consultation
Neurofeedback Can Help: If "Just Try Harder" Has Stopped Working, You're Not Broken — You're Depleted.
You've built the systems. You've downloaded the apps. You've tried meditation, the supplements, the morning routines, the dopamine detox. You've been in therapy — maybe helpful, maybe not enough. Maybe you've tried medication. Maybe it worked, until it didn't. Maybe you've never tried it, and don't want to.
And still, there's this quiet, persistent feeling: My brain shouldn't feel this hard to live inside of.
You're not imagining it. You're not making excuses. And you're not alone — we work with adults every week who have done the self-work, read the books, and are still looking for something that creates change at a deeper level than willpower.
At Mountain Vista Psychology, many of those adults find their answer in neurofeedback — a gentle, research-backed form of brain training that works directly with your nervous system to help it do what it hasn't been able to do on its own.

The Daily Experiences Adults Describe to Us
Everyone's story is different, but we hear certain patterns again and again. If any of these feel familiar, it's worth paying attention to.
In Your Head
- Overwhelmed and struggling to do the things you want to
- 15 browser tabs open, audio playing from one you can't find
- Reading the same paragraph three times without absorbing it
- A to-do list you've been "about to start" for weeks
- Mental fatigue by 2 PM, no matter how well you slept

These aren't personal failures. They're often signs of a nervous system stuck in overdrive — a brain that never fully learned how to downshift. The good news? That's something the brain can learn, even now.
Neurofeedback: Brain Training That Works With Your Nervous System, Not Against It
Neurofeedback (sometimes called EEG biofeedback) is one of the most researched non-pharmaceutical approaches in mental wellness. It has been researched for over 60 years, with thousands of peer-reviewed studies published to date. Neurofeedback is used in professional sports training, and it has been studied at major academic medical centers including UCLA and Yale.
Here's how it actually works, in plain English: Small sensors are placed gently on your scalp — like soft stickers. These sensors read your brainwave activity in real time. You sit comfortably and watch a show, listen to music, or let your mind rest. When your brain produces the patterns associated with focus and calm, the audio or video plays clearly. When your brain drifts into dysregulation (the "wired-and-tired" state most adults know too well), the signal dims slightly.
Your brain, being remarkably adaptive, naturally learns to produce more of the "calm, focused" patterns. Over time — typically 20 to 40 sessions — these new patterns become your brain's default.
What you experience: Relaxing in a comfortable chair. Watching a show. Zero pain. Zero medication. Zero "trying harder."
What's actually happening: Your brain is learning to self-regulate in ways it hasn't been able to before — including, often, patterns formed decades ago in response to early stress, trauma, or chronic overwhelm.
The Research: Neurofeedback has been studied for conditions including ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, concussion recovery, and peak performance. It has been designated a "Level 1 — Best Support" intervention for ADHD by evidence-based review standards, placing it alongside behavioral therapy and medication in research backing.

What Our Adult Clients Tell Us Changes First
Every brain is different, and every person's progress is unique. But adults often report noticing shifts in these areas within the first 10-20 sessions. Below are potential benefits.
Focus That Doesn't Require White-Knuckling
Reading an email once instead of three times. Making it through meetings without mentally drifting to Mars. Starting tasks without 45 minutes of resistance.
Sleep That Actually Restores You
Falling asleep in minutes instead of hours. Staying asleep through the night. Waking up without that first hour of grogginess.
Emotional Regulation That Feels Possible
A longer fuse. Recovery from stress that takes minutes instead of days. The ability to feel your feelings without being flooded by them.
Energy That Lasts Past Lunch
The afternoon crash softening or disappearing entirely. Evenings that still have you in them, not just a depleted version of you.
A Nervous System That Finally Downshifts
That constant background hum of alertness quieting. The ability to actually rest when you rest. A body that doesn't feel braced all the time.
Mental Clarity That Returns
Finding the right word. Remembering the thing. Thinking in full sentences again instead of fragments.
We can't promise outcomes — every brain is unique. But we can promise this: our clinicians will walk with you honestly, measure your progress carefully, and tell you the truth about whether neurofeedback is working for you.
Why Denver Adults Choose Mountain Vista
There are only a handful of practices in the Denver metro area offering true clinical neurofeedback, so what makes our approach different?
Four convenient South Denver locations:
Englewood | Greenwood Village | Littleton | Hampden/South Denver
Licensed Clinical Expertise
Our neurofeedback is delivered by licensed mental health professionals — not technicians. That means every session is informed by clinical insight into your whole wellbeing, not just your brainwaves. You're treated as a whole person, not a protocol.
Integrated Whole-Person Care
Many adults combine neurofeedback with counseling or EMDR — all under one roof. Our team coordinates care so you never have to repeat your story to a new provider. This matters especially for adults whose current challenges have deep roots.
Insurance That Actually Works
We're in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicaid — rare for neurofeedback providers. Most adults are surprised how affordable care becomes once insurance is applied. Medicaid clients do not have any out of pocket costs.
