The Power of Saying “You Can”
I found this video on YouTube (A Ted Talk of course!). I love the theme of believing in the capability of our kids regardless of any diagnosis they have. When we set limits, it is much more difficult to reach beyond them. The speaker on this video has Autism Spectrum Disorder and talks about how helpful it was that he had an “I can team”. In my experience the key to growth is to understand what skills are needed and missing and teach the skills. When people are able to develop skills, they are able to achieve.
